Call for Artists: Winter Darkness/Winter Light Exhibit

Merrymeeting Arts Center invites you to participate in its 2016 Winter exhibition, “Winter Darkness/Winter Light,”  5 February to 26 March 2016.

Artists are invited to submit work exploring not only the visual delights of winter in Maine, but also the mysteries of a season that gives us Groundhog Day, Candlemas, Mardi Gras, the myth of Persephone and the Lunar New Year.  Any artistic medium is welcome, including fiber art, mixed media, clay, painting, etc.

“Winter Darkness/Winter Light” will open with a community party on 5 February, the first event of Bowdoinham’s Annual “Ice and Smelt Festival” scheduled for the weekend of 6-8 February.

Artists with a connection to Merrymeeting Bay and its surrounding communities are especially encouraged to participate; work must be submitted by 30 January 2016. For more information, contact Howard Solomon at 207 666-3589 (no text messages, please), or at howard.solomon@maine.edu.
