February-March COMMUNITY READ introduces MAC project “Hallowed Ground, Forgotten Voices”

The Merrymeeting Arts Center project “Hallowed Ground, Forgotten Voices” will use Edgar Lee Masters’ classic book “Spoon River Anthology” as inspiration for a comprehensive community project involving the literary, dramatic and fine arts.

As part of this project two Community Read events will be held this winter. On Thursday February 18 from  1 – 2:30 pm author Caroline MacDonald will give a talk and discuss her book “Way Down Back”.  This will be held at the Coombs Municipal Building. On Thursday March 7 from  1-2:30 Franklin Burroughs will facilitate a discussion of  “Spoon River Anthology” By Edgar Lee Masters . This will be held at the Merrymeeting Arts Center.

Community Read

Copies of both books are available at the Bowdoinham Public Library. “Spoon River Anthology” is available for free download via Overdrive.  A Reading Guide for “Spoon River Anthology” is also available at the Town Office, the Bowdoinham Public Library & the Town Landing Restaurant.
