Summer Arts Camp, Week 5: Put on a Puppet Show!

If your children have not yet made it to one of the Merrymeeting Art Center’s Summer Art Camp sessions yet, then you still have 6 more chances to bring them!  Tomorrow (Wednesday, July 22), Joan Knight will be with us sharing her passion for puppets.  Here’s what she says:

Shadow puppetry is a unique form of puppetry that originated in China and dates back thousands of years.  We’ll experiment with how light changes shadows and then use shadows to act out stories.  Next we’ll develop our own stories or use or favorite folktale to create short skits.  Using paper and dowels we’ll create the stars of the show and maybe some scenery and then on with the show.  Bring your imagination.

How fun!  Your kids won’t want to miss this chance to create, perform, and be entertained!  For more information about Merrymeeting Art Center’s Summer Arts Camp, visit here.  Next week, Adelaida will be with us to create some art from plants!

Kate Cutko was with us last week and taught us about the adventure of letter boxing.  Almost 20 kids came and enjoyed the treasure hunt.  Here are some photos from that day.
